Service Description

ATTENTION: ** If you are ready to book your New Patient appointment now, a consultation is not required. Go to: www.atlantapsych.org> Book an Appointment> New Patient Appointment> select your desired day and time for your appointment. ** No medications will be prescribed during this "no-obligation consultation" with the provider. This appointment is to decide if you and the provider will be a good fit based on the discussed treatment goals tailored just for you. A consultation with a practitioner typically involves: Evaluation of the patient’s medical and psychiatric history Assessment of previous mental records Assessment of the patient’s family history of psychiatric illness Assessment of the patient’s history of substance abuse Discussion of the patient’s symptoms Discussion of possible causes of the mental problem or the patient’s social history Discussion and evaluation of previous treatments, medications, and hospitalizations Formulation of a treatment plans If the practitioner needs more information, she can request for: Psychological evaluation Physical exam Lab tests Treatment plans may involve: Medications, such as antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, mood stabilizers, and antipsychotic medications Psychotherapy Brain stimulation Hospitalization Residential treatment Rehabilitation Support group The practitioner may also prescribe some lifestyle changes, such as: Quitting smoking Avoiding alcohol and illegal drug consumption Exercise Proper diet Since proper care and management of psychiatric problems may require the participation of family members or primary care providers, the patient should be accompanied by a concerned companion during the consultation, if they desire to so do. After the consultation, the patient is not obliged to move forward with the proposed treatment plan and is free to seek a second opinion from a different provider. If, however, the patient decides to move forward with the recommended treatment plan, the office will schedule a New Patient appointment for the patient at this time.


Cancellation Policy

To cancel or reschedule, please contact us 24-hours in advance to avoid a same-day cancellation/no-show fee. Canceling in advance, will also allow other clients in need of services to be seen sooner. A $50 same-day cancellation/no-show fee will be applied to your account. This includes NEW and EXISTING patients.
