Service Description

The Catastrophic Psychiatric Impact Evaluation is an advanced forensic psychiatric service designed to determine the depth, severity, and permanence of psychological harm following a high impact or life altering accident. This evaluation goes far beyond a standard mental health assessment by examining the full spectrum of emotional, cognitive, and behavioral consequences that result from catastrophic events. This comprehensive evaluation assesses the presence of chronic trauma related symptoms such as intrusive recollections, persistent hypervigilance, avoidance patterns, emotional blunting, mood instability, and heightened reactivity to stress. It evaluates the injury’s effect on identity, self perception, interpersonal relationships, and long term mental health stability. The assessment also explores irreversible or long standing impairments, including • Permanent emotional dysregulation • Ongoing psychiatric limitations • Diminished resilience • Chronic anxiety, fear, or depression • Long term sleep disturbance • Loss of previous functioning or coping abilities • Persistent cognitive strain related to trauma • Reduced capacity for social or occupational engagement In addition, the evaluation reviews how catastrophic emotional trauma impacts decision making, motivation, family roles, life planning, and the ability to return to prior levels of functioning. It provides a detailed narrative describing the extent to which the accident has altered the patient’s long term psychological trajectory, quality of life, and future stability. Attorneys rely on this evaluation to determine the presence of permanent psychiatric impairment, estimate long term damages, strengthen negotiations, and support cases involving profound emotional loss. The resulting Catastrophic Psychiatric Impact Report includes a thorough analysis of symptom chronicity, expected ongoing impairment, and the long term psychiatric consequences of catastrophic injury.
